Shout-out to the one and only Yael who, while busy buying her first house (CONGRATULATIONS!!) is also searching the web for blog-worthy items for me. Check out this gem she found while just casually playing on the Tiffany & Co. website.
The App For People In Love
Yes, this is a Tiffany & Co. app to browse rings by shapes, setting, metals, designs. You can determine your ring size, set up an in-store consultation, and even preview it with a wedding band. The best part is that you can share the one you found via social media networks - as if having a Tiffany app on your phone won't give it away! You can preview the app here - bottom left corner of the page.

Whew!
Remember that list I posted on October 4th? No? Here it is again:
I was having fun with the cathedral-lenth veil!
How fun is this?!
Yes, that's all the train...
I loved this one!
To Be Completed by December:
* Hire photographer and take engagement pics
* Secure an officiant
* Have an invite and STD plan (that's Save the Date, weirdo).
* Have a dress? Maybe...
HAHA!! Yes, it's been a busy week!! Engagement pics is not crossed off, but don't worry, they're scheduled! Fiance and I are excited for our urban shoot on Sunday, November 7th. Now I just have to figure out what to wear..hmmm...
We have a Rabbi! We have a photographer! Invites are in the works! I BOUGHT MY DRESS TONIGHT!! The wedding is getting more and more real every day and I cannot wait. You are going to have to wait to see pictures of The Dress until The Wedding (ha, like it's the event of the century) but I hope these fun dresses make you smile. I had a blast with Operation: Wedding Dress and am almost sad that I'm done trying on fancy, expensive dresses. Maybe we'll go to the Oscar's some day... a girl can always dream.
Enjoy!

The (Infamous) Bridal Party
Here I am, sitting at work, I have a huge deadline looming and all I can thinking about it the pending nuptials. Not stressing over it - just thinking about it. Well, dreaming about it is more like it :)
Before I get into my rant of the day, THANK YOU to everyone that reads my blog! A few of you have told me that you wish I blogged more often and that makes me so excited! Maybe you can start paying me to blog and I'll make it my full time job? I would guarantee more regular updates that way!
Moving on...
The Bridal Party. Something that we have all thought about multiple times. I remember, several times in my earlier years, having conversations with my girlfriends and saying, "If I was getting married tomorrow, my bridesmaids would be...". The girls changed (for the most part) each time we had these discussions based on who we were hanging out with the most that week. Leading up to our engagement, I thought I knew exactly who would make up my party... and then we got engaged... and then it was real... and here I am today... with no bridal party... yet.
You chose your bridal party and they:
* complain about the money they have to spend
* complain about the dress you make them wear
* complain about the time they have to put up with you
* complain about your color scheme
* complain (but are secretly grateful, I know it!)
You leave a few people out and they:
* complain about how they thought you were better friends
* complain about how you would be in their party
* complain about who you actually do pick
* complain (but are secretly relieved!)
Maybe I'm a little pessimistic about the whole scenario but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings nor make them wear the ugly dress that I will inevitably pick out. So I said to Fiance, "let's just pick one person each." HA that didn't go over so well. Apparently the groom's side doesn't have these sort of issues (or so he thinks).
So I did some research.

The Wedding Party
During the "marriage by capture" era, close friends of the groom-to-be assisted him when he kidnapped the bride from her family. The first ushers and best men were more like a small army, fighting off the brides angry relatives as the groom rode away with her.

Bridesmaids and maids of honor became more common when weddings were planned. For several days before the marriage, a senior maid attended to the bride-to-be. This maid or matron of honor, as we know her today, ensured that the bridal wreath was made and helped the bride get dressed. All bridesmaids helped the bride decorate for the wedding feast.
For a long time, bridesmaids wore dresses much like the bride's gown, while ushers dressed in clothing that was similar to the groom's attire. This tradition began for protection against evil rather than for uniformity; if evil spirits or jealous suitors attempted to harm the newlyweds, they would be confused as to which two people were the bride and groom.

A bridesmaid is typically a young woman, and often a close friend or sister. She attends to the bride on the day of a wedding or marriage ceremony. Traditionally, bridesmaids were chosen from unwed young women of marriageable age.
Often there is more than one bridesmaid: in modern times the bride chooses how many to ask. Historically, no person of status went out unattended, and the size of the retinue was closely calculated to be appropriate to the family's social status. Then, as now, a large group of bridesmaids provided an opportunity for showing off the family's social status and wealth.
Hmmmm interesting. I like the "protection against evil" history but I'm still not convinced. I would be fun to have my gaggle of girls around at all times but should I really make them all wear that dress?

If I Had a Million Dollars...
errr, make that $38 Million dollars. This would look really good on me, don't you think? It would bring out the color in my eyes ;)
Rare pink diamond could fetch $38M
24.78 carat gem is being sold by an unidentified private collector
You think it's a little much? Naw.

Dress UP
MOB and FOB came to town for a few days so MOB and I decided to take advantage of our time together by, what else, DRESS SHOPPING! We had three appointments and one impromptu stop for a total of 6+ hours of wedding dress shopping. It. Was. Amazing. Best game of dress up I've ever played in my life and, yes, I've played a lot of dress up! After stop 2, I was convinced that I had found The Dress but alas, it was simply a false alarm (I think). Here are a few of my favorites that I don't mind sharing because I have no intention of actually purchasing them...
Love the back of this dress!
This dress was interesting and it was my only Vera Wang - which was quite exciting! Found out later that it is Khloe Kardashian's wedding dress.
Ummm LOVE THIS DRESS!!! It was sooo fun! This is why Monique Lhuillier is my hero.
Love the back of this dress!
Clamps became my new best friend... first in the back, then in the front!
Another AMAZING ML gown. The cost of this dress would have eaten up my ENTIRE budget wedding budget so you can imagine why it is no longer an option. But it sure was fun to wear!
MOB and I had a blast and the fun will only continue. I have two more appointments scheduled for 10/16 and will keep you posted!
We had dinner last night with MOB, FOB, MOG and FOG and it turned into quite the conversation about the wedding plans. It's so fun to hear the parents' talking about all the plans and how excited they are! I also came up with a little timeline for myself...
To Be Completed by December:
* Hire photographer and take engagement pics
* Secure an officiant
* Have an invite and STD plan (that's Save the Date, weirdo).
* Have a dress? Maybe...
These weddings things are fun... :)
